#010: Into the Front Range

From City Vibes to Summit Skies: A Perfect Day in Colorado

What a day! We started in the heart of Denver and ended high above the tree line, surrounded by snowfields, marmots, and unforgettable views. We're off to an excellent start!

Morning in Denver’s Art District

We kicked off the morning with some remote work time at a coworking space nestled inside Denver’s Art District. The space was full of color, creativity, and great coffee—plus, the Wi-Fi wasn’t too bad either.

Outdoor Gear Paradise

After wrapping up work, we wandered through the nearby flagship stores—Arc'teryx, Pendleton, Patagonia, and some outlets—basically an outdoorsy millennial’s dream. Let's just say we didn’t leave empty-handed.

Mile High Pit Stop

Before leaving the city, we made a quick detour to Mile High Stadium to snap some photos for Lauren.

Into the Mountains: The Drive Toward Mt. Bierstadt

Time to gain some elevation!

As we headed toward the mountains, the unending reveal of layer upon layer of peaks unfolded the higher we climbed. It truly felt like the range never ends.

We made our way up to Mt. Bierstadt, one of Colorado’s iconic 14ers. As we climbed higher, dark clouds rolled in, the temperature dropped from a sunny 91° in Denver to a brisk 42°, and light rain turned to hail. We stayed in the car (because: lightning!) but got an epic view of Mt. B, the rugged “shark tooths,” and even a peek at Mt. Blue Sky

Colorado’s Sailing Capital

As we made our way toward the next mountain pass, we cruised through Frisco, Colorado—a charming little town known as the sailing capital of the Rockies. It sits right on Dillon Reservoir and was charming mountain town.

Hiking Loveland Pass: Altitude, Wildflowers, and Marmots

Next stop: Loveland Pass, where Caitlin tackled her first hike at altitude—a truly breathless experience 😉!

Hiking Above 12,000 Feet

That first uphill stretch was tough. Breathing felt like trying to catch your breath in slow motion. But after a short pause, the lungs caught up—and so did the views.

We hiked across two snowfields, climbing steadily toward the Continental Divide, and were greeted by marmots everywhere, plus one adorable pika.

The Colors of Colorado

What surprised Caitlin most? The color. The alpine wildflowers were vibrant and unexpected. As we crossed the final ridge, the view opened up and the scenery at 12,000 feet was nothing short of magical.

Breckenridge by Night

After our hike, we descended through the Eisenhower Tunnel and rolled into Breckenridge for the night.

Bougie Meets Mountain Town

Breck is a curious mix—tourist beach-town style shops meet millionaire ski-lodge vibes. But thanks to the off-season, we scored a room at a very nice hotel. We capped off the night with a sauna and hot tub session, soaking in the brisk mountain air and the quiet calm of a high-altitude town after dark.

Final Thoughts: From Desk to Divide

From coworking in the city to climbing toward the clouds, today had it all: a productive day, outdoor retail therapy, dramatic weather shifts, and colorful alpine wildflowers. And Caitlin got her wish of seeing all the marmots!
